Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Shakad collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email [email protected].
Who we are
Shakad is a digital contact-sharing platform operated by Wiselead Solutions (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For privacy questions, contact us at [email protected].
Data we collect
Account data you provide (name, email address, sign-in credentials, and profile and contact-card details); contacts you save; data generated as you use the service (card and storefront views, booking clicks, workspace audit-log events); payment records for paid plans; and technical data (IP address, device and browser type) needed to operate and secure the platform.
How we use your data
To provide and maintain your account and contact cards, to process subscriptions and payments through our payment provider, to surface analytics you have asked for, to keep the service secure, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.
Legal bases
We process your data to perform our contract with you, to pursue our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service, to comply with legal obligations, and, where required, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Storage and security
Your account, contact-card and contact data, and files you upload, are stored in UK data centres, with backups kept in the UK. Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS and stored data is encrypted at rest. Passwords and session refresh tokens are kept only as one-way hashes. Access to production systems is restricted to the people who run the service. Launch-notification data is held as described below.
Sharing with third parties
We share data only with processors that help us run Shakad: Microsoft Azure (database, file storage, and encrypted storage of keys and settings, in the UK), Hostman (the servers that run the live service), UpCloud (servers for our development and test environments), Cloudflare (domain name service and the secure network connections to our servers), Stripe (payment processing), Postmark (email delivery) and Notion (launch-notification records). Each is bound by a data-processing agreement. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data from your account at any time, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. Export your saved contacts to CSV, and save any card as a vCard; deleting your account from the app or the portal removes your personal data. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), the UK data protection regulator.
Launch notifications
If you ask to be told when Shakad launches, we collect your name and email address. We add them to our waitlist records (Notion) only after you confirm through the link we email you, on the basis of your consent, and use them to tell you about the launch. To send that confirmation email we pass your email address, and a link that carries your name, to our email provider (Postmark), which keeps its record of the message for up to 45 days whether or not you confirm. Postmark also records whether these emails are opened, through a small image in the message; it does not track the links in them. To withdraw, use the “Leave the list” link on the Shakad home page (shakad.app/leave): we email you a link and delete your details when you confirm it. For 48 hours afterwards we keep a one-way fingerprint of your email address, with no name or address beside it, so that an older confirmation link cannot add you back; we then erase the fingerprint. Deleted records stay in our provider's (Notion's) trash for up to 30 days before it removes them. You can also email [email protected].
Cookies
The Shakad website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If you choose a currency for prices (GBP, EUR or USD), we remember that choice in one first-party cookie, shakad_currency, for up to a year so prices stay in that currency as you browse; it holds only the currency code and is not used for tracking. If we add privacy-friendly visitor statistics, they will be cookieless and this policy will name the provider.
Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and for a limited period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, and security obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the service or by email, and the “last updated” date below will change.
